Attending my first Imaging USA was amazing!  Every year, the PPA (Professional Photographers of America) puts on an amazing convention that includes an enormous vendor trade show, educational seminars hosted by the industries top professional photographers, an international photographic exhibit, CPP certification exams, classes & degree ceremony, Grand imaging awards and both a welcoming and closing party that brings the house down!  This convention offers the attendees a great opportunity for networking, perusing the latest products and the chance to further enhance and hone their skills through education and development programs provided by the PPA.  This year the event was held in Atlanta, GA.  I had the pleasure of attending a pre-convention business workshop, hosted by Ann Monteith, prior to the start of the convention.  During the expo, I was honored to personally meet several great photographers that I look up to; first, Bambi Cantrell, at the Simply Color vendor booth, then Jennifer Dell at Clickin Mom’s and lastly Mathew Jordan Smith at the conclusion of his business seminar.

I was truly amazed at the sheer number of vendors on display at the expo.   Not only that, but the quality and depth of products that are being provided these days, is astounding!  There is so much out there, that we can offer to our clients in the world of portrait art!  So many special, beautiful pieces that can be treasured and handed down from generation to generation.   For someone like me, who is an artistic, product-based photographer, specializing in providing quality portrait art to my clients, I was very interested in searching for new vendors that could offer me special products that were different, crafted with quality and would excite my customers.  I did not leave disappointed.  And, I am happy to announce that I will be changing up my product line in the coming months to incorporate some very special art pieces that you will be sure to love!  I know that several of them will quickly become favorites!

Overall, I have to say that I am so very proud to be a member of the PPA.  I met several new friends during my trip and was overwhelmed at the sheer magnitude of people who attended the convention (Apparently, 10,000+!).  The PPA is an amazing organization that strives to provide support, education and resources for their more than 25,000  members.   In addition, it’s members are held to the highest levels of honesty, professionalism and integrity, which is very important for you, our customers!  It feels wonderful to be a part of this amazing family.  Kudos to everyone at PPA who organized this  year’s IUSA!  It was a terrific experience and I came home thrilled and super-excited to kick off 2013!   Here’s a glimpse into my weekend…
