Meet Collin. I’ve known Collin for a few years, as I photographed both his older brother and sister, for their senior pictures. It’s been great watching him evolve into this smart, fun, quirky guy who is an absolute joy to be around! He has a true addiction to all things “Star Wars” and loves snacking on Mountain Dew and chocolate! He defines his style as “comfortable” and is most grateful for his family and friends. Collin is planning to attend Michigan Tech with a major in computer science. Some of his most favorite things at this time in his life: Playing video games, sleeping, talking with his friends, eating a nice, home-cooked meal and watching TV with his family. Thanks for bringing your “A”-game to your senior portrait session, Collin!

I have to start by saying how much I enjoyed working with this lovely girl! Having just turned 13 years old the week we shot this session, Miss M shared her desire to break into modeling. She’s a definite contender with that incredible hair, beautiful smile and mesmerizing eyes. Miss M has been involved in cheerleading and volleyball since she was little and loves the team aspect of both sports. I was surprised to hear that her favorite food was steak! Most kids at this age have not yet developed a taste for more sophisticated foods. As we got started shooting, I was really taken away by her natural beauty and sweet personality. Despite her initial shyness, Miss M soon came out of her shell and we ended up having a wonderful time together.
I am amazed every time I photograph a tween. As a “pre-teenager” they are just beginning to learn and discover so much about themselves and who they want to be. Miss M was no exception. Check out her best shots below!

I am so excited to introduce you to Madison! I have had the pleasure of knowing Madison’s mom for many years. In fact, I knew her mom before Madison was born! We have watched each-others’ children grown from cute little babies to young adults. If you’re a mom then you know…that sad moment when you realize that the “chipmunk” cheeks are gone or your son’s voice is now deeper or your little girl now wants to start wearing makeup. There are so many life-changing mile-markers for our kids but I think some of the toughest for moms can be when their daughter starts to become a young woman and you realize that your “baby” is no longer a baby.
This time frame, from about 8 until 12 years old, is so exciting! So much is happening and lots of things are changing for your kids during this time. They start to come out of their shell, engage in more adult conversation, form opinions about things, whether good or bad, and exercise their own independence. They learn who they can trust and who they can’t by making the same mistakes we did. They also start to develop ideas about who they are, what they love to do and what they may want to become when they’re officially grown up.
Madison was a spunky, fun kid with a lively personality. The last time I saw her prior to this shoot was several years ago; 2012 to be exact, when I first photographed her with her mom. My studio was in the middle of construction at the time, so I moved my kitchen table into the living room and set my lights and backdrop up right in the middle of kitchen! Madison was so adorable and loved the camera. She worked hard. So hard that she passed out within minutes of leaving my home! Be sure to check out the throwback images at the bottom of this post, to see a few of our shots from that day way back when!
I was really taken aback when Madison arrived at the studio. I now had this beautiful, sweet, confident young girl in front of me! Madison was really excited about her photo shoot and did a great job picking out her outfits (with a little help from mom). Once we made our decision on the clothing changes, it was time for her to enjoy a makeover from Katie!
With her natural beauty look completed, we were ready to go! I told her to just relax, have fun and be herself. It’s not every day that us girls get to enjoy an afternoon of pampering and being treated like a professional model! By the time we started shooting, Madison was very comfortable and got into the session really quickly. We had such a great time together and I enjoyed hearing talk about soccer, school and her friends. Madison was so natural in front of the camera and I could have photographed her all day but eventually, it was quitting time, so we wrapped it up.
Thank you Madison, for being such a ray of sunshine and making my afternoon so much fun! I just love your final image gallery and I hope you do too!

As a professional photographer specializing in senior pictures, I have photographed a lot of high school seniors over the years. I’ve enjoyed every single one! It’s so much fun to get to know them and to learn more about their aspirations and dreams and their views of the world around them. It’s especially fun to document this one-in-a-lifetime period of their lives, as they embark on adult-hood.
This one is a little bit different. As a mom, I knew this day would come. I have been obsessed with photographing my son since birth and pictures of him adorn almost every wall in our home. I cherish the younger days and I’ve been blessed to enjoy watching him grow, learn and become an incredible, sweet and loving person. When I originally asked him where he wanted to go for his senior pictures I was actually surprised that he said, “I want you to take them mom!” I would say that’s the best compliment I could get.
I am so incredibly proud of this amazing kid. He is polite, responsible, friendly and funny and he’s done an terrific job of cultivating a special group of friends, who are equally great kids. He’s been a member of the boys tennis team and the school bowling team throughout his high school tenure and was also on the swim team in middle school. However, bowling is his passion. He started when he was about 4 years old and hasn’t stopped. It’s been an incredible ride watching him work so hard to perfect his skills. His entry into the USBC Junior Gold program last year culminated in earning a spot in the annual Junior Gold tournament. That tournament, with almost 4,000 kids coming to Detroit from all over the nation, was a game-changer for him. He made several new friends and had the opportunity to learn from some of the best junior players in the nation!
I could not be more proud of him and every day, I thank God for bringing him into my life. He is my angel.
We still have a couple more sessions planned at some of his favorite places, but these images represent our first attempt at capturing the incredible young adult that he is becoming.
So blessed…Love you buddy!
