We all know that nothing is more important than family. The day my sister moved to Ohio was a sad one for me. It was a very long time ago and I frequently wish she was closer. However, we do our best to visit each other regularly and ensure that our kids get to see their cousins often. Our most recent visit was the last “hurrah” of summer, just before school resumed. We were celebrating my sisters birthday. One of the best moments was being able to take our children to visit the gravesite of our grandparents and our beloved uncle, whom we recently lost to Cancer. Unfortunately, our kids never met my grandparents on my mother’s side. They both passed away just before our oldest were born. It’s a darn shame too, since they were both such amazing, funny, adorable and loving individuals. I know that they would have loved our kids! And, as a photographer, what I wouldn’t have given, to have a portrait of my son with his great, great grandparents! All in all, it was an important day for all of us. Later, while we were sitting beside the pool, enjoying the sun and watching them play, I realized how lucky we both are that our kids are healthy and happy and that they get along so well. Life is short and time really does fly by. Enjoy every memory-it’s both precious and priceless.
